This drug is an antidepressant drug that belongs to SSRI class and it was first introduced by Pfizer in 1991. It is best absorbed when taking orally and it is concentrated in the plasma 4-6 hours after ingestion with corresponding half life of 13-45 hours.
It is best recommended that this drug will not be taken together with the following drugs: pimozie, selegiline, phenelzine,isocarboxid and tranylcypromine. The patient should wait for 14 days before taking drug with MAOI or vice versa.
When taking the drug, you might be have some thinking in having suicide especially if you are younger than 24 years old. But it is approved for pediatric patients but only as a cure of obsessive-compulsive disorder. The doctor should monitor the patient on the first 12 weeks of the treatment.
